I was back in Toronto for the past few days to participate in the graduation ceremony, and the ceremony is now successfully completed.
Although the fact that I was admitted to the University of Toronto involves various factors that “I” cannot control, such as the timing of application, the number of applicants for the 2020 school year, the name value of UWC as a high school, and everything else, so it’s a relief that I feel like I can proudly say that I got the graduation by myself.
As I have said many times before, it is of course very sad to be separated from friends who worked hard together, but as someone who grew up in international schools with many experiences of changing schools and moving, I have a vague confidence based on my experience that if we want to meet again, we will probably be able to meet again on the other side of the world, so there’s nothing to worry about.
So, it was a “see you again” college graduation ceremony.
As I moved between Vancouver and Toronto, I had a chance to compare the two regions.
One thing I think is that the transportation system in Toronto seems to run more on schedule.
So far (3 years), there have been delays, but I have never had a bus suddenly disappear.
In terms of weather, I feel that Toronto’s weather is more predictable and there are more sunny days.
However, Vancouver has a surprisingly beautiful sunny day with no clouds.
Toronto has a lot of sunnier days, but the skies are often light blue with a few clouds, rather than bright blue and sunny.
As of June, the temperature is about the same or slightly higher than in Vancouver, but the humidity is lower in comparison, so the heat is dry and comfortable.
It may change in July and August, but for now, I feel that Toronto is easier to spend the summer in.
And above all, Vancouver is really hilly.
Everywhere you go, you have to climb up and down, but Toronto is rather flat and the city as a whole seems to have a gentle slope toward the downtown harbourfront. Toronto is the easiest place to walk, I would say.
Sure the cold and snow in winter is a huge factor to the living experience, but I personally dislike rain more.
I am glad that I chose to go to Toronto, a city I had never even been to before, on that day 4 years ago.
