茶碗蒸しがマイブーム

どうもケイトです。
中間試験の時期も近づいてきて、今週はドッとやることが増えてきたなと感じる1週間でした。
もうあっという間に２月で、もうすぐ春休みが来ますね。このペースでぬるっと卒業まで走り抜けてしまうのでしょうか。
春休み前は中間試験だけでなく課題の提出日がパレードの如く押し寄せてくるのですが、もう既にその影が見えてきており、私は少し遠い目をしています。
と同時に友人との予定や複数人での外食も増えてきており、公私（というか勉強も遊びも）共にとても忙しい日々です。
まぁ楽しいからいいんだけどね！！ただちょっと睡眠時間減ってるなってだけで！！！！
話は変わりますが、こちらは卵を買いにスーパーに行った時に見つけた惨状。
卵が一個が横に倒れて、その右の卵にめり込んでいました。
危ない危ない！気づいてよかった。
どうやったらこんなことになるんだろう、という素朴な疑問は置いておいて。
これはトロントに限らず、海外のスーパーで卵を買う時は中身要確認です。
日本はプラスチックの透明なケースが多い気がしますが、こちらでは段ボールのケースの方が一般的なので、パッと手に取ってしまうと気づかずに購入して帰っちゃうんですよね。
そして帰宅中にエコバッグの中が犠牲になってしまったり、そのまま冷蔵庫に仕舞って、卵を使おうと思った頃にはケースの段ボールに染みてぐしゃぐしゃになっていたり…そもそも１個使える卵が減っちゃいますし…。
これ、店員さんも気づいてなかったりするからね。自分で確認しないといけません。
どうか、海外在住初心者の方は、悲しい思いをしないように気をつけてくださいね。
初心者でない方も、気を抜いて悲しい思いをしないように、同じく気をつけてくださいね。
私も気をつけ続けます。

It’s been a fairly busy week with midterm exams and things approaching.
Can’t believe it’s February already and spring break is just 2 weeks away!
At this pace I’ll probably be graduating before I even notice.
Before spring break, a parade of assignment submission dates as well as midterms come in, and I’m already hearing the footsteps.
At the same time, my personal plans and extracurricular things (including club meetings) have been increasing in frequency too.
At least it’s fun and not miserable or anything, but I am quite lacking on sleep already!
On a different note, just last week I went to a grocery store for some eggs, and found a carton in the fridge where one of the eggs had fallen on its side and smashed into the egg on its side.
Honestly my biggest question would be how in the world did that happen inside a closed egg carton, but forget it for now.
This is not limited to Toronto, but when buying eggs in supermarkets outside of Japan, you have to be extra careful and check the carton before purchase.
Because in Japan, most eggs are in transparent plastic cases, but here, cardboard cases are more common. So if you pick them up quickly without checking, you end up buying broken eggs without realising it.
And by the time you get home, your eco-bag may be taking the suffering. Or if you don’t notice and put them in the fridge, when you are ready to use them, the cardboard case would be soaked and soggy… and you end up with less usable eggs in the first place…
Sometimes the shopkeepers don’t even notice this. You have to check it yourself.
Watch out for broken eggs!
