カウントダウン
おはようございます。
常に荷造りがギリギリすぎる。
どうも、ケイトです。
あと数日しかないのに全然部屋が片付いてない。
ここ最近は迫り来る退去日に向けて必死に３年間で集まった物の処遇に悩んだり。
ギリギリ最後に近しい友達やクラブの面々で集まって、ご飯を食べに行ったり。バタバタした日々を送っています。
嬉しい忙しさと、普通に忙しいので、心も忙しいです。
というか、もう1週間もしないうちにインターンが始まるのに、起床時間が午後なの、大問題なんですよね。
数日後のフライトも午前中だし。当日は朝に起きないと…朝というか午前３時…
また、とても、非常に、とんでもなくありがたいことに、同級生だけでなく後輩たちにも別れを惜しんでもらっています。
同級生は普通に仲が良かったのでお互いしんみりしますが、「先輩」として慕ってくれている人が、最後にわざわざ個別に話しかけに来てくれることが、光栄で仕方ありません。
中学時代は後輩とそんなに交流無かったですし、高校ではちゃんと交流ありましたけど、コロナで思いがけずぬるっと終わりましたし、なんだかむず痒いのはありますが。
凄く愛のこもった言葉や手紙を頂く機会が何度かあり、嬉しいし、本当にもう恐縮するばかりです。
卒業しても繋がりが途切れないこのネット時代、これからもみんなの「先輩」でいられるような大人になりたいなと改めて思いました。
まぁ同級生とは「またどこかで会えるよイェーイ」くらいなんですけどね。すぐ卒業式もあるし。
そういえば、桜の季節というのは一瞬で、もうロバーツ図書館前のものは散ってしまいました。
一瞬すぎて、よくこんなに短期間しか咲かない花が日本でに人気になったな、とか。刹那的だから人気なのかな、とか思ったり。
やはり昔から日本人は季節限定が好きなんでしょうか。
ちなみに桜の花が散りだして若葉が芽吹き終えるまでの期間、状態を「葉桜」というじゃないですか
「散った桜」より、「葉桜」という前向きな表現の方が、なんだかよく聞こえますよね。
言い方、大事。

Hello everyone, Kate here.
So I only have a few days left before I leave this room and I haven’t cleaned up at all.
Always packing last minute. I never learn.
Recently, I’ve been frantically worrying about what to do with all the stuff I’ve gathered over the past three years, having last-minute get-togethers with close friends, and also club members to go out to eat, and all that jazz.
I’m both “happy busy”, and also “simply busy”.
I mean, my internship starts in less than a week already, and my wake-up time is still in the afternoon, which is a big problem.
And my flight in a few days, which requires me to get up at 3 AM…
Come to think of it, the cherry blossom season is super short and has passed already, and the ones in front of Robarts Library have already fallen.
I wonder how a flower that blooms only for such a short period became so popular in Japan. Maybe it is because it’s such a short period.
I guess Japanese people have always liked seasonal specials.
By the way, the time between when cherry blossoms start to fall and when their young leaves start to come out is called the “hazakura”, directly translated to the “leafy cherry blossom” season.
The expression “leafy cherry blossoms” sounds much more positive than “fallen cherry blossoms,” doesn’t it?
The way you say it is important.
