This week I saw a squirrel on the sidewalk and it felt like spring was just around the corner!
The days are still cold, and the wind is freezing as always, but the sun is starting to get brighter.
Sunglasses season may be just a week away.
Other than the pile of assignments, I have also felt the “end of an academic year” by going to end-of-year events.
It is a bittersweet feeling, to get together with everyone and have some hours off from thinking about academics, but it is also full of goodbyes.
So many people are graduating, and so many exchange students are going home.
Especially as an international student myself, it is sad to say farewell knowing I may just never meet these people ever again!
Sure, I have gotten used to saying many goodbyes at this point, but it’s still always sad.
I simply have no clue where in the world some of my friends are and what on earth they are doing right now, so there always is a general loss of connection.
Doesn’t it feel almost absurd to have no idea about the people I used to know so closely?
On that note, whilst I was going through my Instagram feed in a sentimental mood, I saw some pictures from people in my high school who graduated last year.
Some of them are going to Japanese universities, and April is when they have the entrance ceremony!
So it may be endings for me but new beginnings for others.
It’s always good to see old friends on social media, it makes me happy to see they are doing well.
