どうもケイトです。
大学もラストスパート！
流石に疲れてきてちょっと気を抜くと寝ちゃう日々です。
なんかもっぱらご飯と課題の話しかしないと噂の私なので、他にもいろいろやってるよアピールをしたいと思います。
例えば、トロント大学の日本文化系のクラブ運営に携わっていて、イベント運営とかをちょっとしてるとかね。
そのイベントではカナダ・トロント周辺に住んでいる日本文化や日本語に興味のある現地の方や、日本からトロントに来ている交換留学や語学留学生の方を招いて、一緒に遊んで言語を中心とした異文化交流をしたりしてます。私も日本語を話すいい機会になるよ。
他にはとある日本の大学のクラブと、我々のクラブとのコラボで、オンライン言語交流の司会・運営してました。
あとは、大学の生徒が運営してるラジオに出演しました。
話す機会が結構多いここ最近でしたね！
ラジオ収録して思ったんだけど「○○．○FM」みたいなカットインって難しいね。言い慣れてないから凄い噛んじゃいました。
この甘噛みが一生インターネットに残るんだなぁ…
課題のプレゼンテーション以外で「自分が中心になって話す」立場になると、中々違う角度の緊張があります。
今学期は既に１回、あと１回クラスの前に立ってプレゼンをする機会があるのですが、個人的にそっちの方がど緊張します。
採点されてるし、教授の中での「正解」があるからこそ、自分が簡単に「失敗」できるというのがやっぱり怖いんですよね。
自分の中でも細かく「正解」があって、台本があって、ちょっとでもやらかしたら自分が一番すぐ気づいちゃうし。
あと観客が私のプレゼン内容じゃなくて、プレゼンの技法に注目している気がして尚更緊張しちゃう。
その一方イベント運営って、イベントの主な目的が果たせて参加者が楽しそうだったら全てが正解！みたいなところあるじゃないですか。よっぽどのことがないと失敗にはならない。
そこの柔軟性があって私の対応力に任せられるのは、少し安心感があります。
そういえばちょっと前気になってるって書いたオレオポップコーン買ってみました。
結構甘いからもうちょっとクッキーが欲しかったな〜〜〜という感想。

I think I’ve talked about having 2 group presentations for assignments this year.
But other than university stuff, I’ve done some talking-based stuff that I think is worth recording here.
For example, I’m a part of a university club that specialises in sharing Japanese culture and language with local people who are interested.
We do weekly events to promote language/culture exchange with other Japanese students on campus, such as the people who are here as exchange students, so both parties get the opportunity to speak their learning language.
I’ve been lucky to be able to lead one, so that was a really cool experience.
Leading from that we did a similar event, but in collaboration with a Japanese university club from Tokyo, and had a zoom (online) language exchange.
I was again leading the event in both preparation and on the day, and that was also extremely exciting.
These experiences made me re-realise, talking in front of a crowd for a university presentation and for an event is really different.
For university presentations, there is a clear criterion I must pass to get a good grade. I have a rigid script and there is a “right” and “wrong”. The audience is checking out my presentation skills.
But for events, it’s for fun. No one is checking if I do it “correctly”, but everyone is there to enjoy the event and have the most fun out of it. I have a script, but because there are no criteria, it’s up to me if I want to change things up on the spot.
There of course is pressure for both, but I think I enjoy the pressure I receive for events.
On that note, I do have to prepare for my university lecture presentation that’s coming up soon. :/
