I went around to my friend's house for her birthday last night.
… Well, it was "an international school student" turning "18" in "Singapore", so more than obviously, everyone was VERY drunk by the end of it.
I didn't drink, but the alcohol in the air was very heavy, I could tell that.
The taxi driver that came to pick me up just looked at them and automatically deduced we were "colleagues from work".
I thought it was quite funny so I didn't deny it, but probably because he assumed I was old, he started talking about Singapore politics and history.
I was really tired by then so was half going (leave my alone….) but he just continued talking for the 30-minute drive about what he liked about Singapore, so by the end, I just decided to join and we had a huge talk about how much Singapore had changed over the few years.
What's so interesting about this to me, is that we're doing a book about "Singaporean typical uncles" during English class right now.
