強風に煽られながら
おはようございます。
今日も爆風が吹き荒れていて顔が冷たい。
どうもケイトです。
冬学期1週間目が終わりました！
これまでは１回目の授業はシラバス（授業計画）をひたすら読んで、それだけで時短授業で終わってしまうことも多かったのですが、さすがに4年生向けの講義ともなるとそういうことは少なかったですね。
もう大体のシステムには慣れただろうというメッセージでしょうか。
急にガッツリ講義内容が始まると冬休みとの差で体が驚く感覚がありますが、わざわざ寒い中大学に出向いてまで、そして１講義分の時間と授業料が支払われている中で投稿されているシラバスを読むだけ、となるとなんだか勿体無い気がしますしそれでいいような。
今学期は取っている講義の種類がとても幅広く、必修のものとは別に単位数のために面白そうだなと思った講義をバラバラに取っているので、内容も教授も教室も、今まで見たことがない出会いが多いです。
今週は２カ所、行ったことのないビルに行ったかな？
慢性的な方向音痴なのでどうなってしまうものかとビビり、異様に早く家を出たのですが、ちゃんと講義前に一番近い水飲み場とお手洗いを探す時間も確保出来ました。
見知らぬ講義や教授というのは自分との相性などが想像付かないので、多少不安は残りますが出来るだけ頑張りたいですね。
相性といえば。
最近は自分の所属している団体と、大学の他のクラブとのコラボの予定を頑張って立てているのですが、こちらがまた難しい。
やはり仕事のやり易さというのは、相手との相性に凄く左右されてしまうものだなと改めて痛感しています。
特別自分や相手の性格がどうこうというよりは、仕事のペースや、どこまで細かく話を詰めるかなど、色々違いが生じる項目が多い中で、大人数の会議というのは大変です。
勿論そんなこと知っていたはずなのですが、最近はずっと自分のクラブ内だけでの会議やイベントが多く、こちらは結構このような仕事面での馬が合う人間が多いので、凄くあっさり簡単に進むんですよね。
なので、こうも難しいことがあるということをすっかり忘れていました。
そんなこともある、というか普通に生きていたらそういうことの方が多いと思うので、学びのターンとして頑張れればなと思います。
でも難しいね！大人数コラボ！上手く行くことを願うばかりです。

The first week of the winter term is over!
In the past, the first week of class has often ended up being a short class, of just reading through the syllabus in a bit more detail, but as you could expect with a lecture for fourth-year students, that was less common this year.
There is a bit of a jolt, going straight into heavy lecture content from the holidays, but going all the way to the university in the cold, paying for the lecture and taking time and everything just to read the posted syllabus, feels like a bit of a waste so I’m not complaining.
The type of lectures I’m taking this semester is very wide in range, because other than my required courses, I’m taking a couple of of random lectures that I thought sounded interesting, purely for the number of credits I need till graduation.
This meant I encountered a lot of content, professors and classrooms that I’d never seen before. 2 entirely new buildings as well.
I left home ridiculously early to get to class because I was almost sure I would get lost, but it went alright. I even had the time to find the nearest water fountain and restrooms from class.
I can’t imagine how I’ll get along with these new lectures and professors, so I’m still a little anxious, but I’ll do the best I can.
Speaking of compatibility.
Recently, I’ve been working hard to schedule a collaboration between my own club and another university club, but this has also been quite difficult.
Which made me think again about how easy or smooth the job goes really depends on who you’re working with.
It’s not so much about my specific personality or the other person’s personality, but about the pace of work, how much detail we like to plan in advance, and so many other things that can make a difference in how we do our work, and it’s hard to have a large meeting.
Of course, I should have and indeed have known that, but recently I have been having a lot of meetings and events just within my own club, and there are a lot of people here who get on well in this kind of work aspect and been rather easy, so I had forgotten how difficult it can be.
Things like this happen, and it will happen again, so I’ll do my best as a learning experience.
