割と自然な都会、トロント

おはようございます！
なんかもう凄い長いことこっちにいる気がする。
学校初週が終わったケイトです。

というか、授業ほぼ全部オンラインなんだけどなにこれ？？？？？？
履修登録していた授業の半分ほど対面授業の予定だったのに、今週急にメールが来て、６教科中５教科がオンラインに移行されました。
しかもその唯一の対面授業が、「５教科しか取りたくないけどなんか気に入らない授業があったときに一つ落とせる用」で取った保険みたいなやつなんですよね。
でもこれ落としたら対面が週に２回のチュートリアル（講義後に少人数で細かい掘り下げとかする用の授業）しか無くなっちゃう。
そこまでなったらなんでカナダ来たんだ案件じゃない？

まぁこの街も楽しんでるけどさ…

ちなみに電車で隣の人達の会話を聞いた感じ、他の大学も急に全部オンラインに変更とかでそんな感じらしい。
声大きいから聞こえちゃったよ。

電車といえば、カナダの電車マナーは割と日本寄りかな？って感じです。
結構静かだけどたまに喋ってる人がいて、食べ物の持ち込みは出来るけど実際飲食してる人はほぼゼロ。
席はコロナ対策で一席ずつ開けて座るシステムで、「一緒に旅してる人達以外はこの席使わないでね」なんて注意書の紙がそこら中に貼ってあります。
違いで言えば、犬が普通に乗り込んでくるかな。
その床汚いから座り込むのやめたほうがいいよって思いながら犬見てました。
あと個人的にすごい気になるのが、地下鉄が本当に地下すぎて圏外になる事。
地上で予めGoogleマップ開いてないとトロント初心者の私は迷うので勘弁してほしい。

そういえばこの街、どこにでもリスがいるんですよね。真っ黒いリスが。
聞いたところたまにやばい病気持ってるらしいんで、近づかないと誓いました。
あとこの街、どこにでもハチがいるんですよね。割と顔の近く飛んでるのが。
聞いたところミツバチだから安全らしいけど、とりあえず怖いんで近づかないと誓いました。

下の写真は目の前を横切るリス。急に出てくるから毎回驚く。

Hey everyone! Kate here.
So I’ve been exploring my new neighbourhood and campus recently, and the top two animals I encounter have to be squirrels and bees.

Squirrels are essentially everywhere, but personally, I’ve seen many within the campus and Queens park, which is also right next to (or inside, even) the campus.
They shoot out one side of the road and go speeding past, right in front of you to the other end of the road, just in perfect timing to scare you.
Adorable? Yes. But my friends here have warned me that some may be carrying around weird sorts of diseases and I shouldn’t go too near them, so I shall never.

Bees are also everywhere. Doesn’t matter if you’re right outside Eaton Centre after your shopping spree, walking around Toronto Harbour watching the humongous Ontario Lake, or at the park; these bees are flying around face-level.
I did hear that they are honey bees and won’t sting, but either way, they scare the soul out of me so I shall never go near those too.

As for updates on the Univerisity of Toronto, many classes that were scheduled to be in-person classes have been changed to online delivery at the last minute- I realised this when I was looking through the class syllabuses and they said “UPDATED” in bold. Not even emailed to us!
So I only have my tutorial sessions in person now.
Sure covid is not getting better, and it’s safer to do it online, but come on! I just moved to Toronto!

… At the same time, I’m not sure if I have the energy or guts to talk to new people face-to-face anymore, so I won’t complain :/

そしてこちらは急に食べたくなったので２０分歩いて食べたフォー。
値段は相変わらずどこでも高めだけど、量がとても多くて大満足。
