自炊チャレンジ、継続中
おはようございます！
やっとカナダ生活１週間目が終わったケイトです。
もう１ヶ月くらい経った気がするわ…（急に週一外出からほぼ毎日外出に変わった弊害）
てなわけで１週間しかない経験からでも気づいたおもしろポイント、ちょっと共有していこうかと思います。
すぐ気づいたのが、外食は基本的に高めなのよ！
いや、フードコートで１点１１ドルは流石にびっくりしました。だってフードコートだよ？安いと思うじゃん？
ただ普通に買い物とかに行くと、食材は割と安いというか、普通値段です。
個人的な感想ですが、自炊すればだいぶお金が浮きそう。
衝撃だったのが、バナナの値段です。格別に安い！！！
６本で１.５ドルとかだったんですよ！こりゃ朝ごはんバナナだわ。
勝手にバナナが安いのは南国の話だと思ってたんですけど、そうじゃないみたい。
あとはやっぱり気温。
上の写真は先日観光に行った時の写真なんですけど、これ気温何度だと思います？
なんとね、２０度。
その晴空で！？？！？！って感じ。
どうしてもシンガポール気温に慣れて比べてしまっているので、この晴天で３０度超えてなかったのが凄く変な感覚でした。
（1年も日本に居たらそろそろ日本気温基準になるんじゃないのって思うじゃない？全然外出してなかったから日本基準にするほど慣れられなかった。）
９月頭なのに風が冷たいのなんの。でも日差しは結構きついのがミソ。
私の周りのカナダに慣れてる人はみんな半袖で、私一人だけ７部丈くらいのTシャツでした。
ちなみに空気が澄んでて日光が超眩しいので、サングラスを持って行くのがおすすめ。
大学ですが、全体的な授業自体は一昨日始まったんですけど、私は単純にスケジュールの都合で来週まで授業ないんですよね。
だからまだ観光以外で大学に行けてません。
ソワソワしすぎてめちゃめちゃ悪夢見ました。半年に一回しか夢見ないのに、よりによって。
遅刻した挙句電車間違えて逆方向に乗るっていう、まぁまぁ怖い夢でした。
重いスーツケース持って階段下りたのに違うホームで、また重いスーツケース持って上らないといけなくなるとかいう…だいぶ具体的な悪夢…なんで大学にスーツケース持って行こうとしてるんだ…

So it’s finally been one week since I’ve moved to Toronto.
Feels like a month already!!!
Like, I’ve been so active last week.
Especially compared to how minimal I went outdoors when I was in Japan, so it makes me feel like I did a few weeks worth of activities.
But here’s some things that have caught my attention this week!
So the first thing to tell you, eating out is NOT cheap.
Honestly, I never expected one dish at a food court to be $11.
Not a restaurant, a food court!
Maybe it’s just my experience at the one I went to, but friends have been telling me the same, so I’m assuming this is the standard in this country.
On the other hand, groceries are not that expensive.
There’s a lot of stores that sell groceries all over town so it’s quite convenient, too.
I’m sure it would be a lot more affordable to just cook at home.
6 bananas were $1.5, how is that not cheap???
I have also noticed something quite unfamiliar to me; even if it’s the same chain store, open hours DIFFER PER store.
It’s not the same everywhere!
Many stores that sell groceries, even the larger chain stores like Shoppers Drug Mart, can be stores on their own and not inside of a bigger mall; meaning they have different “possible” operating hours.
The same shop can be closing at 8 pm or 11 pm depending on where it’s located!
Best looking it up online.
Another thing that I’m not accustomed to is the weather.
Because I’m still used to and comparing things to Singapore, a clear blue sky would look like a 30 degrees Celcius day to me- but in Toronto, the sunniest days can be 20 degrees Celcius.
And it feels so weird!
Bright sky with little clouds, with cold winds. Feels like a glitch.
