Hello everyone!
Kate here.

I’m almost done with the term and have one final exam to get through.
One last sprint to the finish line and I’m on winter break!!!
I’m terrified about my exam so I don’t want the day to come, and also can’t wait to go into the winter holidays so I want the day to come.

What are your plans for the winter?
I understand all cultures have different ways of spending the holidays, but I don’t really know much about what people do here.
For as much as I know, it’s mostly just spending time with family with the occasional fireworks?
I think last year quite a few of my friends went over to see new york eve’s fireworks.

In Japan, it’s extremely merry and bright leading up to Christmas with all the decorative lights and illuminations, and the city becomes super pretty. Everyone is in a festive mood.
And after the 25th, the city changes to the new year’s mood. New year colours in Japan are red and white, with traditional roots. There are loads of cultural events and food that happen up til the 3rd of January, and it’s just super fun with so much going on.
Usually, there are also a lot of seasonal and special TV shows and stuff as well, so everyone is in a celebratory mood.
I really like spending the winter holidays in Japan.
Sadly it isn’t similar here in Toronto, or at least to the extent I know, so I won’t be doing much this year.

Will definitely get me some quality sleep for sure!
