本格的にWithコロナ時代へ
おはようございます。
どうもケイトです。
いや〜、緊急事態宣言、WHOから正式に解除されましたね！
かれこれ３年半ですか？色々ありましたねぇ。
これから先も細かい事態は変わると思いますが、せっかくなのでこのブログに書いて、リアルタイムの記録として残しておこうと思います。
先日ちょうどカメラロールの整理をしていたら、２０２０年の１月頃に撮ったシンガポールで初コロナ発症のニュース画面のスクリーンショットを見つけました。当時はまだ武漢ウイルスって名前でしたね。
もちろん解除されたからと言ってこの世からコロナウイルスが消えるわけじゃないですけど、少しずつ日常が戻ってきたような気がして嬉しいです。
例えば、それこそ先月見にいったようにカナダではミュージカルが開演されたり、日本でもライブで声出しが可能になったり、ね。
先日も日本で参加したライブで、大声でコールアンドレスポンスしながらペンライト振り回してきました。
有観客の現場で参加できるライブ、最高！
ここ数年でオンラインライブも何度か参加しましたけれど、やはり音楽は画面越しじゃなくて会場が最高だなと再認識しました。
後から気づいたけど、会場内、マスクも外してよかったらしいです。
色々こういった娯楽のルールも変わってきましたね。
緊急事態で真っ先に止まっていたであろう娯楽系が復活するのは喜ばしいことです。
今年のゴールデンウィークのニュースを見ると、人が多過ぎて新幹線の駅や江ノ島が凄い事になってるみたいですね。大変だけど、それが出来るだけでも少しいいなぁと思ったり。この後クラスター発生なんかがないと一番最高ですね。
完全には気を抜かないようにしつつ、この夏を楽しめたらなと思います。
多分人生最後の「夏休み」ですからね…。
そういえばカナダから日本に帰ってきた時も、韓国から日本に帰ったきた時も思ってたことなんですけども。
日本着陸後、空港から出るまでがものすごくスムーズになっていました！
PCR検査やその結果待ちのプロセスが無くなり、色々な部分が自動化されたのもあり、もう着陸後３０分くらいで税関のゲートをくぐれました。
その一方、外国パスポートの列が長いこと長いこと！
あまりにも日本レーンがガラッガラでそちらにしか人がいないので、最初は私も「こっちが正しい道かな？」とついつい付いて行きそうになりました。
みんな旅行に来てくれているんでしょうか。
私生活でそういう変化を感じると、なんだか一つの時代のようなものの終わりを感じます。
このまま復活することなく、終わってくれることを願うばかりです。
きっと未来の歴史の教科書には大きく取り上げられていることでしょう。過去の話として書いてほしいですね。

The WHO had just announced yesterday that COVID-19 is no longer considered a global health emergency.
Wow! That took us about 3 years and a half!
Of course, I understand that just because it is no longer “considered”, it does not mean the virus is gone.
In fact, just a month ago my classmate (who sits right next to me in class) caught the virus, and it is well near us.
But it’s nice to draw an arbitrary line and be able to say it’s the end of some dark times.
I was just going through my photo camera roll the other day to clear some data space, and found a screenshot from January 2020 about the first case of the “Wuhan virus” being caught in Singapore.
Haven’t heard of that name in 3 years. It became a whole wide world matter really quickly.
It makes me a little happy when I experience small little changes in my daily life that tells me things are changing.
Like the lines at the airport.
The last time I came back to Japan, which is a year ago or so, there were still extremely long lines inside the airport after landing.
You had to get PCR testing inside the airport, and that meant long waiting times for the test and even longer waiting for the results.
But this year it was so much smoother!
You land, go through a couple of gates, get your luggage, line for customs and off you go. No extra testing time.
And, the line for Japanese passports was really short as well.
Not sure why, but although the foreign passport queues were really long, I don’t think I “stood” in line at all.
The queues were short and constantly moving, so it didn’t feel stagnant.
I don’t think it took much more than 30~40 minutes after landing to get out of the airport!
It took me several hours last year!
Hopefully these positive changes will stay with us.
