浴衣を着て夏祭りに行ってみたい。

先日、全校で文化の日的なイベントがありました。
自分の国や、好きな国の文化的な衣装を着て1日を過ごす、というUWCの国際性を祝うイベントです。
学校初のイベントとして全校生徒、G１からG１２まで全員集合で集会がありました。
踊りや歌や物語など、世界について考える事をテーマにたくさんの発表がありました。
うーん、UWCらしい。
あとなぜかものすごいサーカスパフォーマンスがありました。
学校にサーカスクラブがあるんですよね。。。
ワインボトルやナイフなどのジャグリングから非常に背の高い一輪車まで、結構クオリティの高い演技でした。
うーん、変な学校だ。
衣装で思ったんですけど、日本っていいですよね。
確たる文化的な形が未だに強く存在する気がします。
文化的な衣装と聞いて一瞬で浴衣、着物を連想することは可能ですが、なぜかイギリスやアメリカのような国は「文化的な衣装」と言われてはっきりと思いつく衣装がないように思います。
アジアは文化好きなのでしょうかね？チャイナドレスもハンボクも可愛いですよね〜。
まず浴衣というもののデザインがとても可愛いので、ついでに私も褒められてる気になって楽しかったです！！！！

Yesterday was UWC day, which is something to embrace and celebrate the diversity of the school.
We wear whatever cultural costumes to school- any country, or your own, for a day.
There was also a whole school assembly, all the way from Grade 1 to Grade 12, about things such as the UWC movement, climate change, some songs and dances from different cultures, so on.
And a huge circus performance by the school circus club.
Talking about cultural costumes, don't you think Asia's quite good at that?
It's slightly hard to think of a "costume" to wear for countries like the United States or the United Kingdom.
I don't know why, but we have a joke in school about how it colonised too much and culture diluted… 😂
But for Asia, it's quite easy.. Like the sari, china dress…
And Japan's good at that too.
Like the yukata, and kimono, are such traditional icons! And they're super pretty.
So I wore a yukata to school yesterday, and it makes me happy when people can identify our cultural dress :))
Also, I get praised a lot (because the yukata's really pretty but oh well)and it makes me happy too! MUAHAHAHAHA
