気分は何歳？
おはようございます。
どうも、ケイトです。
シンガポールに来てから中学や高校時代の友人何人かに会ってるんですけど、毎回凄く懐かしい気持ちになっています。
共通の話題が昔話だからなのか、それとも２０歳前後のこの転換期がセンチメンタルさを加速させるのか、心理学でいうモラトリアムなのか、すぐ昔話で盛り上がっちゃうんですよね。
将来がまだまだ不確定だから、未来の話がしづらいのもあるかも？
それにしても昔の話が多くて、シンガポール自体が高校以来の久しぶりなのもあって、なんだか少し昔に帰ってきたような不思議な気分になります。
今までは中学の共通の思い出について話していたのに、先日はついに幼稚園・小学生の記憶の話題になっちゃいましたからね。
遡りすぎでしょう。
ひたすら昔のゲームの話をして、今度マリオのリメイクが出るだの、昔一番ハマっていたゲームがオシャレ魔女ラブandベリーで隣には大体ムシキングの筐体が置いてあっただの、たまごっちはどちらかというと親の遊びになってただの、話していました。
あと何故か太鼓の達人といえばWhiteberryさんの方の夏祭りだよね、とか。
なんかこういう何気ない昔話ってどうしても楽しいんですよねぇ。
でもそんな話をしながら、中学生の頃からの友達と夜遅くにお酒を飲むのは、なんかちょっと不思議な気分です。
大人なんだか、子供なんだか。
カラオケでひたすら昔の世代の誰もわからない曲を歌い続ける人にはなりたくないよね、なんて言いながら解散しました。
そういえば私「今ゲームにハマったら勉強も課題も就活も全てを投げ打って熱中して人生壊しそうだからSwitch買わない」と2017年発売当初に宣言してからもう6年経ったのですが。（どんだけ経ってるの）
今後オフィス仕事をするようになったら嫌でもちゃんと自由時間と仕事時間が分けられるわけで、そして今の感じで行くと仕事後帰宅した時なんて特に長時間遊ぶ体力もないし、私が自分の欲望に負けて人生を破壊する確率が俄然低くなるので、就職したらSwitch買おうかな、とか思い始めました。
それともその頃にはもう新しいハードが出てるかな。それはそれで楽しみ。
もうすぐ独立記念日です。

I’ve been meeting a lot of my childhood friends lately.
There are a lot more people that are still around in Singapore than I thought, which was to my surprise.
I thought I only had 1 friend here but I forgot to count in the people who might be back here for the summer holidays too, like me, and the other Singaporean people!
It’s been more than 3 years since I’ve met most of them, so it’s really cool to be able to see them again.
Some of them I’ve not seen properly since middle school, so they look so different and grown up it’s funny.
The last time I was in Singapore we were having a whole COVID lockdown, so I didn’t even get to say a proper goodbye to these people.
Especially with being in the Singaporean weather again, it really feels like I’m back to when I was in high school.
A little sentimental about how much we’ve grown.
With these old friends, we tend to always talk about old things as well.
Like what games we used to play when we were young, what movies we liked, and stuff like that.
My liking of these things and media had always been focused more on Japanese culture, and less on Singaporean or other regions’ media, so I don’t get to talk about it too often.
So it feels extremely special to be able to talk about these things.
