おはようございます。

なんと今週、新潟の長岡花火を見に行ってきました〜〜〜〜〜！！！！！
元々なんやかんやで新潟に行く予定があったのですが、調べてみたらなんと「日本一の花火大会」が３年ぶりに開催されるらしいじゃないですか。
ならばせっかくの機会、この花火に合わせて行こうと、今回東京から新幹線で約２時間。
ぶっ飛ばして参りました。
長岡花火は長岡の駅から「少し歩いた川辺」で開催されます。
…全然少しじゃ無いけど。大混雑で結構な距離をゾロゾロと30分くらい歩かされるけど。
なんというか、一人や友達となら大丈夫だと思いますが、家族旅行とかであまり歩きたくない祖父母やじっとできない小学生以下の子供を連れてくるには、相当の覚悟が必要となる距離と人混みでした。
長岡の駅を出てから花火大会の現地までずっと混んでいるので、出来れば別の駅のコンビニやスーパーでおつまみや飲み物を準備しておくが吉だと思います。
今回開催地に一番近いセブンイレブンは、入店するためでさえ駐車場を突っ切って歩道に飛び出るほどの長蛇の列でした。
当の花火はねぇ、アホな感想になってしましますが、ただただ圧倒されました。
規模感がデカくて、周りにほとんど明かりがないから真っ暗の観客席も、花火の光量でよく見えるくらいの眩さでした。
演目数も多くて、約２時間ほど結構熱中して見れます。
そういえばアナウンサーさんにいろんな種類の花火が変わるがわる紹介されるなか、花火とは別にスポンサーの企業の名前が挙げられてたんですよね。そう、私初めて知ったんですけど、花火大会の多くは周囲の企業からの協賛金で実現しているらしいですね。
驚きました。
花火一発一発、相当な値段がするらしい。
一社がサポートする小規模なものも丁寧で工夫されていてとても綺麗ですが、何十社の共同した大スケールの花火は、圧巻としか言いようがありませんでしたね。
視界満面の花火。すごかった。

This week I had plans to go to Niigata prefecture, and luckily for me the timing was perfect and I managed to slide into a large fireworks festival!
Niigata prefecture is up north in Japan, about 2 hours by bullet train (shinkansen) from Tokyo station, and is a pretty cool place with loads of great food and culture.
I love travelling on bullet trains.
It’s often a really long ride so you would usually get yourself an “Eki-ben”, meaning bento boxes sold at the station, and just sit down and chillax during the ride with some really good food.
It’s such a special experience to Japan, so happy I got to do that here.
So in Niigata, they usually hold the biggest fireworks festival in Japan called “Nagaoka Hanabi”, which had been unable to take place for the last 2 years due to covid restrictions.
And this year was the first one in 3 years since the last one was held!!
I was so lucky to get a seat at such a popular event.
It was a full 2 hours filled with beautiful and super carefully crafted fireworks, I was in awe for the whole 2 hours.
The last time I had seen any fireworks was the 2019 to 2020 countdown in Singapore, so it was super fascinating to see so much after a while too!
I feel like fireworks outside of Japan are usually treated as those countdown events during the winter, but for me as a Japanese, it’s a summer festival event. So I’m super happy I got to enjoy the festive feeling whilst I was here.

この光満面の空と火薬の香りを感じて「夏だな」と思えるのはやっぱり日本的な感性だと思います。
日本の夏、最高。
