バンクーバー再来

Last week, I went to Vancouver for the first time since junior high school!
That was 2016, so it’s been 7 years. It’s been quite a while.
Back then I was in Vancouver for about a month going to summer school, and I hadn’t been to Vancouver since then.
To my surprise, after all this time, I managed to find some of the streets to look a little familiar, and it reminded me a lot of the things from back then.
It’s fun to come back to the same place after some time has passed, like this.
I still keep in touch with my friends from summer school.

Personally, the highlight of my stay in Vancouver, other than sightseeing, was a visit to a company’s warehouse.
We did go see a lot more things, but going to see the warehouse operations is the one that I remember quite vividly.
It’s because just 2 months ago, I had been working in that same warehouse’s Singapore branch for 2 weeks!
I’m originally someone who watches a lot of factory tours and videos of how things are made on YouTube, but this was the first time I had a proper understanding of about 90% of what was going on in the warehouse, so this was a new perspective.

Sidenote, there’s a 3-hour time difference between Vancouver and Toronto, and the climate is also quite different.
Toronto has distinct seasons and averagingly strong winds.
In the winter, it gets very cold (-10°C to -20°C) and snowy, but there is always plenty of sunshine.
Vancouver, on the other hand, is often cloudy, and in winter whilst it doesn’t get as cold as Toronto, it tends to be rainy and overcast all the time.
A lot of patchy weather, but it’s still warm, I’d say.
It’s completely up to you which one you prefer, but I’m a Toronto person.
I would think it’s kind of annoying to have rain all the time, but that might be because I’m just used to Singaporean weather!
