おはようございます！
今月末提出の課題が中々うまくいかない、ケイトです。
引き続き課題の話です。高校と大学じゃやっぱり違うね！って話がしたい。
というか私ってなんか一生嘆いてない？？
東京結構謳歌してるしめっちゃ美味しいご飯にも行って、いい事もいっぱい起きてるよって書いておきますね。

なぜだろう、長く書ける話題を出そうとすると毎回お悩み相談室が開かれてしまう。
今のところ課題の一番難しい点は、「何が正解か分からない」ところです。
IBは大体の課題に「マークスキーム」と呼ばれる、結構細かい採点基準の表があるんですよ。
今Google検索したら意訳で対応する言葉が出てきませんでした。まじで？それとも私の検索そんなに下手なの？
要は答えの本？「このようにすればこれくらいの点数が見込めます」みたいな一覧表で、全教科全課題全試験、生徒と採点する教師双方に共有されてます。
だからその表を参考にエッセーを組み立てられるんですよね！
例えばIBSL数学のエッセーでは「式や数理モデルがあり、はっきりと説明されている事」が条件に書かれていたりするので、その場合は分かりやすく「グラフ１：2000年から2020年に渡る東京都の人口の推移」と注釈を入れる。みたいなね。
それで「式」「モデル」「説明」の３つが必要なんだな！って分かるため、採点基準を元に必要な情報が抜けないように作ることができます。
あと同じ課題をやっている人間が世界中にいるのでいい点数を取った人間の書いた課題が見れたり、過去問が死ぬほどあって全部の過去問に採点基準があるから傾向も見えやすい、とかもあります。
でもトロント大学はそんな分かりやすい基準表もなく、教授が何を求められているのかいまいちはっきりとは分からない上に、オンラインで出る課題の大体全ては前例がありません。
そりゃそうだ。オンラインなんて今年が初めてだ。トロント大学だけじゃない。
だから何を求められてるのか何が正しいのか全然！！！！！！！分かってないんだヨォ！！！！！！！！

I feel like I keep coming back to this topic, but I just really want to cry about university assignments and how they are different from high school ones.
Just to mention, I do nag a lot but my life isn’t as depressing as it sounds- I am enjoying Tokyo.
Like last night I had an amazing dinner with my grandparents and cousin’s family.
So to compare what I find the most difficult- in IB, there is a marking scheme for almost every single task, all exam papers, for all subjects. Everything.
This is shared with both the students and the teachers, which provides students with a very clear guideline of what should be done, how it should be done, and things like that.
I find it super helpful because it’s how I know where I should be paying more attention when I only have limited time to work on things.
For example, a Maths essay’s mark scheme might ask for “equations with mathematical models, clearly labelled”. Then I know I need a detailed equation to be set up, draw a graph or whatever and explain it in detail. There are also tons of examples of good papers available online.
BUT, in UofT, there is no such thing as a detailed mark scheme or anything describing what exactly is wanted.
Hence I struggle to tell how much detail I am expected, what needs to be emphasised, where the markers would be looking.
The fact that online learning just got introduced this year and no examples of all the new tasks are available online really doesn’t do it for me when I’m looking for help. 🙁
I guess I’ll just have to learn from experience what the “university standard” or what they are expecting is, but that would probably take a long time, so watch out for my next episodes of quite crying to be updated. Whoops!
