I’ve survived my first week in the workforce.<\/span><\/p>\n

So I got my job here in Singapore, as a position hire, not a graduate hire.
\nIt’s a system where you only apply for that specific position, rather than the Japanese system where you join a company as a new graduate employee, and then a few weeks later you are assigned to a position. I guess this is the most common way of finding employment overseas.
\n<\/span>I didn’t think anything was different\u00a0with that, nor questioned it at all,\u00a0because it was the norm.
\n<\/span>But when I joined the company and worked there for a week, I realised.
\nI didn’t have any “colleagues”, or peers around the same age and experience as me.
\nThere are only bosses and seniors in my workplace. Meaning they are older than,\u00a0and have been with the company for much longer than me.
\n<\/span>So, I don’t have anyone in particular to talk random things\u00a0to.
\nI’m not really the type of person who talks a lot at work or during breaks, because I’m the kind of person who takes the best breaks by relaxing on my own, so I’m fortunate that I don’t find it hard during work when I’m slightly alone.
\nBut when I want to chat a bit about random, unimportant things about work, I don’t have anyone to talk to.
\n<\/span>Due to the nature of it being a job, there is inevitably some content that is confidential outside the company, so I can’t just go around blabbering to my friends.
\n<\/span>I didn’t even think this would be a problem!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I mean, even if I wanted to chat with my friends, if you think about it, I’m from an international school and all my friends during my Singapore times have already left Singapore for university and employment, so I don’t really have any friends here at all anyway.
