\nIt’s already the end of January.<\/p>\n
Has everyone already gotten used to the year \u201c2024\u201d?
\nI’ve made the transition surprisingly easily this year, and so far I haven’t made the mistake of writing “2023” once.
\nUsually, I tend to make these mistakes all the way until around February, so that\u2019s a nice change.<\/p>\n
This week has been a bit snowy compared to the last few.
\nThere are several hot dog stands on the way home from university, and I happened to stop by one this week. I took a glance at the topping and to my surprise, I saw snow inside the containers!
\nTo be fair, it\u2019s probably unavoidable due to the shape of the lids, but I\u2019m sure there must be a better way to do this in a country that snows every year. Or maybe people just eat snowy toppings every year.
\nIn the end, I tried some mushrooms as the topping, which fortunately did not have snow inside, but because the temperature outside was so low, the mushrooms had a subtly cold and crunchy texture.
\nCanada is a country where mushrooms freeze just by being left outside.<\/span><\/p>\nThe trouble with the snowfall this week was that it was quite a \u201crainy\u201d snow, if you know what I mean.
\nThe snow that had melted on the ground mixes with the freshly fallen snow and it becomes a soggy slushy mess and super hard to walk on.
\n<\/span>Moreover, there is a layer of ice hidden under that slushy layer, and it’s hard to see, so if you’re not careful when you walk, you will slip and fall.
\n<\/span>It\u2019s a dangerous world out there.
\n<\/span>So you have to slowly take each step and really make sure to grip onto the ground, which inevitably leads to straining your legs, and it\u2019s one of the things that tire you out tremendously after a while.
\nI might even rather prefer having more snowfall so it\u2019s not melting and slushy and everything. That being said, I\u2019d probably cry about having my feet buried in the snow if that happened.
\nPlease be careful when you come to Toronto.
