I think I’ve talked about having 2 group\u00a0presentations for\u00a0assignments this year.
\nBut other than university stuff, I’ve done some talking-based stuff that I think is worth recording here.
\nFor example, I’m a part of a university club that specialises in sharing Japanese culture and language with local people who are interested.
\nWe do weekly events to promote language\/culture exchange with other Japanese students on campus, such as the people who are here as exchange students, so both parties get the opportunity to speak their learning language.
\nI’ve been lucky to be able to lead one, so that was a really cool experience.
\nLeading from that\u00a0we did a similar event, but in collaboration with a Japanese university club from Tokyo, and had a zoom (online) language exchange.
\nI was again leading the event in both preparation and on the day, and that was also extremely exciting.<\/p>\n

These experiences made me re-realise, talking in front of a crowd for a university presentation and for an event is really different.
\nFor university presentations, there is a clear criterion I must pass to get a good grade. I\u00a0have a rigid script and there is a “right” and “wrong”. The\u00a0audience is checking out my presentation skills.
\nBut for events, it’s for fun. No one is checking if I do it “correctly”, but everyone is there to enjoy the event and have the most fun out of it. I have a script, but because there are no criteria, it’s up to me if I want to change things up\u00a0on the spot.
\nThere of course is pressure for both, but I think\u00a0I enjoy the pressure I receive\u00a0for events.
\nOn that note, I do have to prepare for my university lecture presentation that’s coming up soon. :\/<\/p>\n
