Not being in Canada is actually a little more inconvenient than I thought!<\/p>\n

So I’m already a week into the summer term, but this happened a few days ago whilst I was trying to get my textbooks for these 2 summer courses.
\nSince summer courses are only about 2 months long and I don’t need them for a long time, plus physical copies are quite expensive and shipping takes way too long, I was hoping for an eBook rental.<\/p>\n

But the websites that my professors had sent the class to rent these eBooks weren’t supported in Japan!!!<\/p>\n

Apparently, it’s due to copyright issues; and probably because rules and laws in Japan differ from the US\/Canada regulations. That meant I had to google and find myself another source that was supported in Japan!
\nIt’s good because things worked out in the end, but if it didn’t, I was at great risk of having to buy these $90 something textbooks JUST for 2 months!!!!😭<\/p>\n

Things would have been so much easier if I was was simply in Canada and all those websites were supported- and the UofT bookstore has a lot of cheap second hand, physical copies of textbooks that I would have preferred in the first place.
\nIs it only me or are large chunks of text just so much easier to read on physical books?<\/p>\n

Another story about inconvenient stuff, I also can’t go to campus to collect my student card thing, but UofT only allows in-person pickups for security reasons.
\nJapan often offers discounts to students, but without a student card, I have to pay full price. smh.<\/p>\n
