The world buzz is about the ever-spreading Wuhan Coronavirus.<\/p>\n
It is indeed, super scary.<\/p>\n
It’s starting to affect our school life as well, so let me introduce some measures that are being taken in school.<\/p>\n
1st, cancellation\u00a0of international flights and trips.<\/p>\n
To prevent the virus from spreading, including getting the virus at a travelled site, or unconsciously bringing the virus to another area, flights and trips that are not urgent and hugely important have been cancelled.<\/p>\n
Plus, it’ll be a problem if Singapore started limiting flights after people\u00a0left Singapore because they wouldn’t be able to come back in.<\/p>\n
This has a bigger effect on the grades lower than ours.<\/p>\n
The Grade 11 Project week, a student organised “field trip”, has apparently been called off.<\/p>\n
That’s so sad!! It’s like, the highlight experience of Grade 11!!<\/p>\n
Also, it’s a necessary part to fulfil CAS requirements, so I don’t know what they are going to do with it.<\/p>\n
I also had planned on visiting Canada to look around\u00a0prospective universities, but at this rate, that might be a little hard to do…<\/p>\n
2nd, limiting people from entering the campus.<\/p>\n
There have been changes to the school calendar and such to cancel\/modify where events are placed, as right now, visitors are not allowed to enter school.<\/p>\n
This means 3-way conferences have been cancelled off (YAY), but also the school productions; because most of the audience are parents of the cast, and they cannot come, so I hear they are being postponed.<\/p>\n
The family festival is also being cancelled.<\/p>\n
3rd, cancellations\u00a0of\u00a0gatherings larger than 100 people.<\/p>\n
I mean, our grade is already 250 people, so we can’t even do whole grade assemblies.<\/p>\n
The plan I heard from my teacher about\u00a0mocks, is that it must be modified so it’s not people gathering in 1 hall, but in separate classrooms in smaller groups.<\/p>\n
If things don’t get better, that might even be the case for the actual IB exams!<\/p>\n
I fear they are going to cancel off the whole graduation ceremony…. It’s such a dramatic, once-in-a-lifetime experience, so hope the virus will be contained and controlled by May.<\/p>\n
