Philadelphia and Singapore has a 12 hour time difference, 13 with Japan. <\/p>\n
From Philadelphia, Japan is always 13 hours ahead- so it’s tomorrow’s morning when night in Philly.<\/p>\n
I was expecting it to be hard to talk to my friends, but my friends were always up till so late…<\/p>\n

UPenn was quite good fun!<\/p>\n
2 weeks is a good amount of time to get close to people, and it’s sad when leaving.<\/p>\n
There were so many people from all over the world, therefore loads of surprises.<\/p>\n
People from countries I’ve never heard of, let alone been.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Another- lot of my friends, the same age, have their own cars to drive to school!!<\/p>\n
I can’t even navigate myself around my house without hitting a limb somewhere, let alone drive a car. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Both Brown and Penn are both large in campus size and require a lot of walking from class to anywhere.<\/p>\n
I think this is the same in all of the universities I’ve seen this summer, such as Boston university and <\/p>\n
college.<\/p>\n
Is it like this in other countries? <\/p>\n
At Brown, there were shuttles inside the campus because it was too far.<\/p>\n
It took me 30 minutes to get and back from the boarding house to the dining hall in Penn.<\/p>\n

A lot of differences were clear too.<\/p>\n
Brown summer programme was only until before noon, and there was a lot of homework to finish each day.<\/p>\n
Out of class times were spent on our own, and we could sign up for clubs to attend. It was more personal and self-service, to a point.<\/p>\n
Penn had 2 classes in the AM and PM, with less homework.<\/p>\n
After classes were spent on bigger group activities organised by Summer Discovery, the group (company) that took care of students in the boarding house, such as bus tours around Philadelphia. <\/p>\n

We all had a disco party on the last night of Penn.<\/p>\n
It was a “silent disco”, so music wasn’t blasting but out of individual headphones that everyone wore. <\/p>\n
I don’t know if it was worth it, because people were singing out loud…<\/p>\n
